In our final episode of Crash Course Sociology we are going to talk about what the health care system in the US looks like, the five A’s of health care accessibility, and a couple of contributing factors to the affordability of health care: fee for service care and the structure of our health insurance system which encourage higher spending.

Thank you for this course! You all did such a great job!
8:06 "As a result, being uninsured is associated with the greater need for more expensive and more urgent medical procedures" Check yourself, friends… not everything adds up here
The US healthcare is a racket for rich people.
Thank you for this series, learned a whole ton of stuff! Also as I was trying to se the little bubbles of comments in the intro section so I slowed the video by half and Nicole sounds high as hell 😂😂😂
the first problem is that the U.S has a healthcare system. It's not the job of the federal government to run healthcare. It should be states doing it, or better yet local governments. Healthcare was much less expensive before the federal gov. got involved. There isnt anything liberals dont want federalized except immigration. Where are the liberal run states with government funded healthcare? There aren't any because liberals are hypocrits.
the dumbest thing is that I have to pay more for healthcare out of network. The other is insurance company's funding all healthcare. Who's the idiot who came up with that idea? Insurance should only pay for catastrophic healthcare bills. If people can't afford a physical or basic treatment or even insurance then they should be allowed to pay over time, as long as they pay something. We do that with a lot of other things like mortgages, college loans, credit cards and car payments. Most healthcare is NOT unaffordable anyway. It is expensive not unaffordable. There's a difference. Liberals never want to address the things that cause it to be so expensive.
This was a great crash course
This is indoctrination. If you are unfortunate to come down with a horrible disease, you can't be treated in the rest of the world. Why? You're too espensive so the goal is to waitlist you in hopes that you will die on the list-just like our VA. There is no innovation. You don't have the density of biologists, chemists, geneticists, etc doing research. They can only bandaid you in the UK. Lines & waitlists are the foundation in places like the UK. There are not enough specialists. Your point here is that you think people who work in healthcare should work for $15/hr-after all that medical school. You also don't get the equipment, the robotic arms, # of MRI-PET-CAT scan machines.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful series. You've tackled loaded subjects and have done it with class. It was really interesting.
Nicole you have been awesome throughout the whole series. Thank you very much.
Thanks Nicole And The Crash course Team!.🎀🎇🎆
Can we just say glow-up from the first episodes?
Thank you so much for creating CC Sociology. I have always wanted to understand more about society and this really helped me a lot. I have grown more interest about sociology and will definitely read more onto it.
Since I'm studying social medicine as a subject at the moment, I found it amazing that health was tackled under the circumstances of social factors if nothing but in at least 3 of your videos. Most people find the subject extremely boring and non crucial for a future medical knowledge but social medicine actually in reality is the background of everything that happened, you can't even write a common scientific paper without tackling some of the important health indicators these days. Thanks for making them and I really expect to see more cause book studying this is much harder and there are only a few videos on this subject than for example anatomy or biochemistry or any clinical branches. Best wishes from Serbia <3
Thank you – I enjoyed learning Crash Course Sociology.
Pleas make video social Relationships I'm sociology student

Great
thankyou so much……
I was assigned this video for my graduate course, and I was so shocked you used Hmong people as an example! I am Hmong and I never EVER see anything about Hmong people – it was such a nice surprise 🙂
Watching this series on my own time has been so much fun, I’ve learned so so much, thank you!
Really enjoyed this course. It covered such a broad basis of topics, but with a different lens than what we are used to seeing. Nicole – you were most excellent as the host!
those glasses are awesome
The percentage of American citizens who do not have health insurance keeps climbing, and despite the fact that the American health care system has been hailed as the best in the world, critics have criticized it for being the most expensive, ineffective, wasteful, and unfair of all the industrialized nations' health care systems.
I just can't wrap my head around the fact that having no paid sick leave can actually be legal in a country as rich as the US :/
Great job
Thank you for your time, expertise, and enthusiasm.
thank you for this video, it really helped! and most importantly thank you for talking about the Hmong people. I am Hmong myself and was surprised when you recognized our ethnicity! Thank you!
Thanks a lot! really really~ I enjoyed this with crash course sociology, although it took my several months to get through
Insurance is basically like a fee to enter a club where your lifestyle determines the rate the club in this case the insurance company will charge you based on the things you do in your life in this case it could be skydiving regularly or smoking which have higher chances of something happening etc ….
I enjoyed this course! Thank you, crash course and you, nicole
reimbursement, practice, research…
Nicole Sweeney; crash course; I wanted to let you know these videos helped me get an A in my sociology class.
Nicole, you helped me understand all of the concepts in my sociology book that I was unable to prior to this class such as Gender, Race, and The sociological view as a whole.
Obviously I still had to read my book but you opened up my eyes to how I am to answer the questions for this class.
It means so much!!
I wish you wonderful things in your life and Creaters of crash course
