The Chicago Bears are trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.
The pick can become a fourth rounder in 2025 if Fields plays 51 percent of Pittsburgh’s snaps this season, a source said.
Fields joins Russell Wilson in an overhauled quarterback room that doesn’t return any players from the 2023 roster after the team traded 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Eagles on Friday afternoon. Pickett had expressed a desire to be traded following Wilson agreeing to terms with the team late Sunday night.
Fields, though, will not compete with Wilson for a starting job, a team source told ESPN. Instead, Fields is expected to learn from the Super Bowl winner and nine-time Pro Bowler in Pittsburgh.
ESPN’s Brooke Pryor contributed to this report.
