I know when I got covid in 2020 I was extremely sick and it took me over 2 weeks to recover. I am over 55 now and I have never been vaccinated so I have avoided large indoor gatherings and so far I haven't had it again

For over a decade, many in my family wore masks every cold/flu season. That should be the norm in major cities, not a mandate but just normal hygienic behavior. Regardless of severity, cold and flu viruses spread easily. Even if your infection feels like a minor inconvenience, reducing spread saves lives.
