I give Russ the benifit of the doubt but his first season he had stretches he coulda played better he shouldn’t have turned the ball over as much but his good stretches and context go under the nose.
His 2nd season woulda been diff if the refs didn’t shave off 5 games. The record was 26-31 when he got traded. Refs practically stole 5 games so if we got those games like we should have we woulda been 31-26. Now they can’t say Russ is bad for the team or he cancer.
I hate how everyone ignores context during his time as a Laker. Instead everyone jus said he sucks he coulda played better no doubt. But Bron and AD were always hurt, the team wasn’t good, poor coaching, the 2nd season the team was robbed of a 500 record by refs befo the deadline, and Ham constantly sabatoged the team was 3 guard DS Bev Russ line ups.
I feel Russ and AD were a good pair. AD prob liked playing with him cuz AD is a BIG and Russ always gave him the ball even Bron struggles to feed him at times. Also having Russ meant no one would blame AD. Basically AD gets the ball and never gets blame when he plays with Russ.
