Interesting piece on Adrian Dantley Wasn't he traded to the Pistons or something after his time with the Jazz or did he leave as a free agent?
Never got to cheer him as a player but glad I had the opportunity to give him an ovation when he coached against us during the playoffs when George Karl was out. Utah legend.
Always respected Adrian, for someone only 6' 5" he did some serious damage in the paint. A very smart player with a lot of talent, it was a sad day when the Jazz traded him to the Pistons. Thanks for posting this, and Adrian if you happen to read this thanks for the great memories and nice to see you living a sweet life.
One of the greats, for sure!
Dantley was the most efficient and technical pure scorer ever seen on a basketball court.
I had the pleasure of playing against this brother in high school. It was the Jelleff Summer League in Georgetown, Wasington DC. It was the playoffs and we were the eighth seed. He score 40 points on us while arriving late to the game and missing most of the first half. He's a DC Ledgend and a hell of a nice guy!
Was traded for Aguirre
Truly a humble superstar…was a technician on the court. Got his points without traveling.
Played pickup bball with AD back in the day. Love that he has such a great life.
A great player, terrorific scorer, well human being
What an amazing story!
He was important for the shaping of that 1987-1989 period
AD was a great player and is definitely a hero making sure the kids get to school safely the hall of fame was well deserved.
Never understood why they traded him for Aquire. Dantley was also a very good player Notre Dame as well. Class man
Notre Dame class of '77 (though he went "hardship", i.e., early), same as I.
Ad better than pippen 🏀✌️
Love the fact that he "gives back" to the kids , community. this is a terrific way to get to heaven. It doesn't matter if Isiah Thomas or Chuck Daley like you or not.good Job AD
he just reffed my game
Sad he is so underrated!! To be a 6'5 power forward and lead NBA in scoring is just CRAZY!!! Should get more flower!!!
Lots of respect for this guy. Great player, great man
The only time he ever plays defense is against traffic 😂
Played against him in high school in a tournament when he was with Dematha. I never saw someone so dominating without being excessively tall. He was explosive but had a quick release often without leaving the floor. His team was the best in the country.
Adrian is one of my favorite all-time college basketball players. I remember watching watching he and Notre Dame go into Pauley Pavilion and breaking the record at 81 games against UCLA.
AD GAVE YOU 🪣 BACK IN THE DAY…
It’s funny how people think he broke because he’s retired and found a new purpose he rich as hell but imagine your entire life revolved around something then it stops you gotta find something to give your life meaning and this what he like
Humility. Repect.
Dude had career 54% fg% that is ridiculously good better than Tim Duncan AND about the same as Charles Barkley.
I’ll always love AD!
He was such a pro and his low post game was so fun to watch. Incredibly proficient
I was born in 1996. Mr. Dantley seems like what Tracy McGrady is for our generation. He'll be forgotten by the masses. But if you saw it when it happened, ohhhhh man… T-Mac or Kobe was a conversation for a few years. Mr. Dantley, thank you from INDIA :). You did a great service to our game and you continue as a person. Again, love from INDIA! 🙂
