Health & safety gone MAD | Watch stranger pull man from car, as fire crews couldn’t due to ‘safety’ | Only Sports And Health

A member of the public stepped in to pull a man from a partially submerged car trapped in flooding, after fire crews claimed they couldn’t get him themselves due to health and safety. They called for a specialist team which reportedly would have taken an hour to arrive, all while the man was still in the flooded vehicle.

  1. How times have changed. My father in law was fireman in 1970's he was awarded bravery medal for saving a woman caught in car in a river that broke its bank.. he laid the ladder over the river and scaled over the rapid current. Shameful direction were taking.

  2. Gbnews….. My god this is why we are where we are? People like these two on your panel are simply cowards, I am speechless. They are the nanny state in full view!! They make decisions and policy based on their fears. Laughable if it wasn’t so true. People like these are the reason we have Smart Motorways, that slow the speed limit ever time a leaf falls onto the carriageway 🙈🤷‍♂️

  3. What I took from this is if you need help don’t ask expect these two to help. The guy on the left is a coward and the guy on the right at the point of crisis would need a full in-depth report, because he can’t believe his own eyes, in order to make a decision whether to help you or not.

  4. THIS IS AS MAD as, if say, you trip over a kirb or slab OUTSIDE A Paramedic/Ambulance station and certain Paramedics CANNOT (by employee rules) help you with your sprained ankle because… They are on their allotted/official break time! (IS OR WAS A FACT, as I'm not sure if the NHS has changed this ridiculous employee rule… 🤔😒. And before anyone cries 'Fake', this WAS told to me by my Uncle whop served as a Paramedic for 15 years…

  5. It's quite simple and I've seen this from the inside, having worked in the fire service. If that crew had gone in deeper water to help the guy out and something unexpectedly went wrong, or an attending senior officer was present, not to mention it being filmed, then it would be a case of getting a disciplinary misconduct hearing from the county fire service, for not following SOP's i.e. loss of rank to OIC of crew (loss of money) and even dismissal (no job or money)….simply put. And thats why the crew took the actions they did. If you're going to blame anything, then blame the HSE and litigation industry brought in under the Blair government with help from his Mr's.

  6. "Lets wait for the investigation and facts come out…" THE FACTS ARE THERE ON VIDEO!!! Firemen STANDING AROUND, bystander helps out! FACT!. Are we NOT to believe the video and OUR EYES?!?! Those two interviewees are PLAIN IDIOTS!!!
I myself as a Doorman for a nightclub in Grimsby on a deep frozen January night after 4 AM said "Sod the regs" and jumped into FREEZING WATER at 'The Riverhead' (near 'The Barge' pub), to save a lass that had stupidly and drunkenly jumped in to 'End it all'. While other doormen radio'd for the Police/Ambulance service, I removed my radio, phone and overcoat and climbed the fence, and jumped in to keep her head above water! Other Doormen thought I was mad, said "They wouldn't do it", but come on…. IT'S SOMEONE'S LIFE AT STAKE! 😠

  7. The main problem is the liability culture we have brought over from the USA, all actions must be by the book or you get sacked for putting the world in danger, water more than knee deep- call out the specially trained rescue team, if someone gets hurt there are lots of companies telling them they can sue for tens of thousands, so the rescuers go umm and eer ooh we don't want to get sued if we don't have the right training certs, we'll stand at the side and wait for the specialist rescue team to come from the other side of the county.

  8. Typical labour concillor, 'id rather see the report written by the people with vested interests than actually use my own eyes'… Dont get me wrong, with AI were fast approaching the time you wont be able to believe 'video evidence' but a report? tosh…

  9. More sparks die ever year than firefighters. I do incredibly dangerous stuff every day. The electrician you see on home building shows isn't the reality. It's a dirty job under floors crawling about 100 year old live cables . Health and safety is a great thing but it's just not always the case. I would have helped the man and I bet those fireman wanted to.

  10. As a retired firefighter I can confirm that certain jobs could not be done due to health and safety, chimney fires due to crews not allowed to train with roof ladders, foam fires due to not being allowed to use foam when training due to environmental concerns, line rescue and water rescue by specialist crews only

  11. This is nonsense, Fire fighters can go in, They just have to be able to justify there actions, this is a junior officer that is scared of being dragged over the coals, were the water fast running that would be a differant matter, as serving firefighter you just have to balance risk/benefit, in this case there would be no case to answer.

  12. We pay firemen to do their job! What is that idiot bloke talking about – it’s been filmed, we can see what happened! Honestly I despair of this woke, lying population that we have now. What happened to truth and honesty?
