Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young will undergo surgery to repair a torn ligament in his fifth finger after suffering a left-hand injury during Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors, the team announced Sunday.

Young underwent an MRI on Saturday, which revealed a tear of the radial collateral ligament (RCL). The Hawks said he will undergo the surgery on Tuesday and be re-evaluated in four weeks.

The three-time All-Star is averaging 26.4 points and 10.8 assists per game on 42.6 per cent shooting for Atlanta this season.

The Hawks entered Sunday with a 24-32 record, holding the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference, which would have them as the last team in the play-in tournament. They are 3.5 games up on the Raptors.
