  1. Think you have to be a buffoon to blame Southgate for this performance. First goal was given to Belgium from Pickford and Dunk essentially gave them their second goal, albeit from a great pass from Lukaku. I get calling out the Brazil performance, but England did well here if not for the boneheaded mistakes.

  2. Reality check, and at least we don't go into the Euros hyped up now.
Although, I wouldn't read too much into the friendlies, the whole first choice back line was missing, Kane and Saka missing, and pretty sure some players were only at 80% because of the importance of upcoming prem games.
Also, Spain lost v Colombia, France lost, Portugal lost, Netherlands lost… if we learnt anything from this international break… it is, Germany are up there amongst the favourites, they're now clicking and have home advantage.
I'm punting £1k on France and £1k on Germany to win the Euros

  3. England has the same issues Belgium had when our "golden generation" was young, don't waste it, change manager, don't make the same mistakes we made and actually win something in the future so you don't have to act like being third on a world cup is something incredible

  4. Majority of you didn't watch the whole match, but I did. England did well in this match, played with possession in mind, they would need to remove Dunk and get Gomes as first choice partner with Stone, it' should be 2:1 England.
Engand also has Kane and Saka not playing.

With that in mind, England should use Madrid formula in the front (Bellingham + Saka + Foden ) adding Kane in the leading line to put opposition back line. Rice has to prepare his physie , Mainoo would be good assset to open option for the front 4.

  5. Should have used Maddison more he made more telling passes on the few touches he had. Hats off to Mainoo but all those minutes didn’t lead to a goal. He spent a lot of time trying to dribble thru but it didn’t always work out but at least he tried. Bellingham spent more time in the floor complaining- I thought I was watching Grealish. He was too selfish and trying to do it all on his own. Foden disappointing yet again. Why people don’t talk about Maddison starting this guy creates more chances than most midfielders. The biggest travesty was the lateness of this substitutions. SouthGate doesn’t try to take the game he waits to react to the game. He’s a poor manager wasting the talent he has due to his favorites or trying to be Mr diplomatic and put in a fan favorite that’s trending but just not ready or good enough. At least we got to see Gordon. If I was manager I’d make Chillwell stay away from corners and put someone who knows how to take a shot in his position… That guy couldn’t hit the side of the universe The England penalty wasn’t a penalty technically we got defeated 2-1. A poor manager and a poor selfish team.

  6. Jocks criticising England. Who'd have thought it? Brazil played great against England, no disgrace there, but we had more posession against Belgium. Our final ball wasn't great in both games. We can do better. If we can get as much ball in the Euros as we did against Belgium we'll make it hard for our opponents. Chins up.

  7. English folks like Craig Burley should be more modest. Belgium missed it's best player and I hope they will knock the so called "big boys" out of the tournament. What an arrogance, and for what? The goalkeeper sucks, and the midfield is average…Bellingham, Kane and Foden are top and that's it.

  8. Too slow playing out from back we need someone to play it forward unfortunately we dont have it. As for defence dunk made a mistake but rice has got to keep on tielemans he never gets stick for it yhough .

  9. No worries dear Scots (and Irish) with Southgate at the helm there's no way England is winning the Euros. 4-2-3-1 twice in a row with 9 of the best 50 attackers on the planet mostly on bench. Southern gate is too defensively pragmatic. But hey, like Craig said, easy group and I got them going to the semi final or even the final, but that's it, no trophy.

  10. Myopic idiot Southgate has been sleeping on Tomori who has been outstanding for Milan for a few seasons now. The CBs should be Tomori, Konsa, Colwill, and Branthwaite (in that order). Stones should not be included in the CB pool as he should really play alongside Rice (same role that he plays alongside Rodri at Citeh), or Walker, as he should be RB/RWB. This is the ideal England squad based on performances/form:

    GK – Pickford, Johnstone
CB – Tomori, Konsa, Colwill, Branthwaite
    RB – Walker, TAA
    LB – Chillwell, Trippier
    CM – Rice, Stones, Gallagher
    CAM – Bellingham, Foden, Maddison
    RW – Saka, Palmer
    LW – Gordon, Rashford
    ST – Kane, Toney, Watkins

Maybe drop one of the strikers to pick a third keeper just in case, but keep the defenders as it allows the option of 3 at the back when needed. Sterling might get in ahead of Rashford depending on who is in better form closer to the Euros. But, unfortunately for England, Southgate will take his favorites like Maguire, Shaw, Phillips, Henderson, meaning that talented and deserving players will get overlooked.

  11. The hate on Southgate is crazy . Players are never to blame , only him him him .
One would think England used to have great managers which is not the case !!!
