I totally agree, but health issues related to diet is what people are doing on a regular basis.
We need to basically have the same conversation, but more zoomed out on the society as a whole.
First step is to actually inform people what healthy and what is not. The food pyramid by WHO – World Health Organization is a lie. Plant foods are very bad for us, humans are carnivores. Grains and seed oils are ruining our health. People should eat meat, fish, eggs and lots of animal fat. But people have no clue what's healthy due to lies by WHO.
The more you speak unfiltered straight facts the more you will be remembered for good. Lots of issues in the world's medical system. All about the money and not enough care about humanity.
One of the most frustrating aspects of a doctor's job is telling every patient to exercise and eat healthy and almost none of them listen or they lie and say I have a bmi of 40 eating 1,500 calories a day. So what it turns into is well if I don't give you medications you will die so here is a medication since you won't follo a healthy diet/exercise. I see it all the time people complaining that the health system doesn't help make people healthier while they are eating candy.
Compassion fatigue
Its the best health care a government allowing mass immigration can offer. The healthcare you pay for gets worse, while the health care they never paid for gets better & better & better.
Does this guy think hospitalized patients go to the canteen to get their meals? Also starting to think he doesn't know what poor people are…
Kind of aside the point(kind of not), but being from America, the “Canadians are always nice” thing is simply false. More than anything Canadians are SO indifferent, apathetic. They have no strong feelings and if they do they never express them… Which this example proved perfectly, when asking hospital staff about the food they were basically just like:
“Well idk, it’s quick and easy. Maybe the food could be better though. Oh 8 of the 10 reasons for being here in the first place are preventable with diet and exercise? Yeah I guess that’s true, but this food is available everywhere so maybe whatever makes money is best.”
JUST HAVE AN OPINION GODDAMN IT CANADIANS!!
Always nice to see my hometown on a video.
As someone who has transitioned from IT to fitness (PT, nutrition coach and Physiotherapist Assistant), it astounds me how many people will take the short route and treat the symptom rather than the cause because it’s quicker and easier. As you said lifestyle changes can fix most if not all illnesses, I agree that the hospitals and doctors need to do a better job at educating patients, they don’t get that training themselves, and quite honestly when I see an overweight smoking doctor I’m not going to take any advice they give me.
Been waiting 2 years for an MRI. Or I could skip the line and pay $700.
To go into what the one guy said about not knowing what patients get. They get processed/preservative filled low grade garbage. They run a business and the ones with the contracts supplying the "food" are there to keep you sick.
I’m in home health PT in the US and I’ve noticed more doctors ordering home health PT for fall prevention which is a great avenue for people like me to regularly see people for 4-8 weeks and add some preventative care via developing a physical activity or exercise program, modifying diet, promoting proper md visit follow ups, medication adherence, and communicating with their doctor for issues. But it’s a lot for me to do and cover at 30-45 minute appointments 1x/week. And the vast majority are already 70+ years old and a lot of damage has already happened. I wish there was a common preventative practice for everyone at younger ages encouraged by insurance utilizing PCP, dietitians, PT’s/kinesiologists/exercise physiologists. The thing is that often times the answers are not more work or more expensive or more difficult. It’s not even always removing everything good or some 2 hour work out a day. For most people it’s often adjusting daily life, adding a little walk or exercise here and there, finding healthy foods people enjoy, and moderation aka enjoying snacks and treats as small treats. What people don’t think about until they are 60-70 is how miserable and expensive life can get with diabetes or heart disease.
The entire North American complex is going down quickly bro.
Chattel medicine doesn't work.
The food court is for the guests, if wings fit your macros then they're fine. Dont the patients get a healthy lunch from the hospital?
No money no business. Sick people is business
You got my full respect brother this is amazing bring it more we need more people like you in the world👊🙏
You don't live in a nation; you live in an economic zone.
Meanwhile in the US my insurance just denied a ~$30,000 claim which was only one of like 15 bills which were all part of the same 4 hour procedure my wife had. Not trying to say these things aren't real issues or anything, (I think what you're doing is awesome) I just wish the biggest problem with healthcare we had down here in the states was the food.
Comes down to big pharma as well. They'd rather have pills pushed to "help" people instead of a nature vitamin & exercise route. People dying is just the cost of business for them. They make billions upon billions of people taking their medications. They send out reps to hospitals & pharmacies & many other places just to push these medications.
Sadly it's alllll about money. Money, money, money, peoples health is secondary.
Great video
It's been broken for decades.
we absolutely prescribe exercise and dietary changes. I do this every day, in ontario.
we do early ambulation in canada. I would love to talk to you further about this… and thanks for taking a pic with my kids at the Arnold's
#3 on the list is C nineteen….. nah…. It’s actually the 💉
I agree. People are sick because they eat like shit, don’t exercise, don’t sleep enough, too much stress and drink too much alcohol. You’d be amazed at how good you feel if you can just get those five things under control. Not to mention you’d avoid a whole slew of health issues. But no, they can’t do that. Let’s blame micro plastics or gluten or GMOs.
eh some holes in argument – basically if hospitals have to install a whole foods or salad/soup plantation the message is employees/patients need a full time babysitter like enrolled students in a school whom were failed miserably by their parents the last 30 years allowing soda/energy drinks/candy and franchised fast food to serve up rubbish along with the traditional school food service supplier serving mostly processed food.
This video should get millions of views, but the algorithm is suppressing it for sure.
It's hard to afford healthy food at a grocery store.
The food the hospital provides for patients is probably a more important topic. Got to try some when my wife gave birth….. i was appaled that sick people are fed that
man learns the health care system isnt actually about health……do you live in a cave?
Free markets should decide. THe reason why healthcare sucks is because socialism and communism sucks. Stop deciding for other people.
This is amazing. I have been a chef for 15 years. Last year I broke my back and got a blood clot in my lung. Was in and out of the hospital for a while. After I (mostly) recovered, I decided I wanted to switch professions and get into dietics. Thanks for showing this. I was blown away while in the hospital, and once I started working for a local one. Keep it up!
This video was a reach lol, i was expecting something more serious than just some pizza in a food court. Who cares. Bigger issues with the health care system than this bro
gut it, privatize it, give everyone a giant tax brake and stop the government from being a nanny state because every problem in our healthcare system is due to bureaucracy.
Ultra processed food is a killer and in American public schools it's about all that's fed to the children and look at the rates of juvenile diabetes and obesity. It's criminal
conversation 2 was on a good track, but the ignorant have a much louder voice! they dont let you get an edge in to challenge their shallow worldviews 🙁
It's like having a tobacco shop on a lung cancer ward, it just seems a bit insensitive lol
I would live to share this video but can't share anything on Facebook because the Canadian government and Meta are fighting. So if you have this video uploaded to Facebook, I can share it
Moose! Saw you at the Arnold last wkd, amazing performance! Congrats on the Win!
Canada has publicly funded health care, but the food court is a business, they are trying to make money. And healthy food does not make money. Anywhere, in the developed Western World, garbage food is what makes money. I work as a physical therapist at a VA hospital. Same deal in our food court – cheeseburgers and onion rings. The people only get what they demand. And they demand cheeseburgers. Even when they are obese, diabetic, and dying of heart disease.
Like a lot of BIG problems, this will only change when the people change their mindset and realize that they are what they eat. You and I both know that to be healthy, you must eat clean and exercise. Most people know this. But they would rather sit on the couch and eat garbage. Because it is easy.
Eating clean and exercising is hard. The pay off in the long run is huge, but our society can rarely see past the nearest fast-food billboard. How do we convince people that the hard thing pays off? How do we convince people to invest in their body for the long haul???
I dont know about you but I'm fine with not having to pay $12000 for a one night hospital stay. Not saying there aren't things that need to be addressed. But people sure love to b**ch.
No, they cannot be "prevented" by diet and exercise. Yes, they do prescribe exercise after a cardiac event. After a heart attack for example you can consult with a dietician, psychologist, and your at your stress test follow up they will tell you all about exercise. In my city you will be given a 6 month free membership at the YMCA. 4 days a week there will be RNs there that you can follow up with, ask questions etc. There is also a HUGE genetic factor. Not everyone is at the same risk for heart disease and cancer, as examples. 2 people on the same diet and one of them may have a heart attack, all things are not equal.
The restaurants in hospitals are not run by the hospital. They are also not going to start running the food court because the govt barely funds healthcare adequately. It's like they staff said, they don't eat there and bring their own food and the responsibility is up to the individual.
Barbells and bikes will not eliminate those diseases. Certainly risk can be reduced and it is far better to exercise.
"When modern Healthcare gets so good, no one will be healthy."
You think a hospital is bad? Try being a trucker. The life support of the entire country. Go for a drive and see how many places actually accommodate parking a big rig truck for people to eat. You may find some gas station truck stops, and you may see truckers parked on the sides of roads to get to a nearby McD. There is no other option.
👏👏👏 Great work Mr Hooper.
One other thing about subway coming from someone who has seen the cheese being made. The white "so called cheddar cheese" they automatically put on if you say yes to cheese is not even real. It's manufactured powders and chemicals. The orange cheddar is actually cut from a real block of cheese just like the swiss cheese subway use to have but no longer does. None of those other two cheeses cost or had costed extra but of course they don't promote or push that. So if you do go to subway stay clear of the white cheese. The shininess of it is all a dead give away to plastic cheese lol.
I'm with you brother. I stopped calling it healthcare a long time ago. It is sickcare.
disappointing sit on the fence BS responses. Cmon, don't tell me it's someones right to choose that is complete BS, have an opinion even if it is a BS one. My opinion is it's a F$kn hospital not a holiday! The place should be kitted out with salad bars, smoothie bars and absolutely no fast food. Greedy money hungry corp that wants people to be sick because it is what drives the hospitals revenue. Really a sick disgusting greedy society we live in today and I wish I wasn't part of it.
