Aintree say their security team will continue to work with Merseyside police and ‘plan for all eventualities’ ahead of the Grand National, despite animal rights group Animal Rising saying they have no plans to disrupt the race.

The 2023 Grand National was delayed for 15 minutes as Animal Rising supporters scaled perimeter fencing and attempted to glue themselves to the Grand National fences.

More than 100 people were arrested and Animal Rising staged a further protest on Derby Day in June when Ben Newton, one of the group’s founders, ran on to the track as the race began.
