  1. One place I have seen a lot of people fail is with liquid calories. They will eat a healthy amount of food, but then they will double the amount of calories with the stuff they drink. Milk, juice, soda etc. Then they wonder why they arent losing weight. DRINK WATER.

  2. This is pretty ridiculous… Lol you know how to increase your basal metabolic rate? Increasing your muscle… By exercising. You know how to burn more calories? Exercise. Better sleep quality? Exercise. Want to increase your metabolism overall? Yep, exercise… Calories in calories out is an oversimplification of a what it takes to lose weight.

  3. It’s true. I’m obese. I get 5 hours of cardio a week. I lift weights 4 days a week. I WORK CONSTRUCTION FOR A living.

I also eat way too much, and eat bad food a lot of the time (donuts, pizzas, etc).

I’m 6’2 285, and have some muscle (big biceps, pecs, etc). But a massive beer gut.

    I can’t out exercise bad eating…

  4. That tribe in Africa stays thin not only because they don't overeat, they don't eat refined sugar or processed food. THAT'S huge!! You had to locate a remote area of Africa to find a large group of people who actually DON'T eat refined sugar or processed food. Haha.

  5. Calories isn't even what I'm worried about anymore when I grab something unhealthy. Now I worry about the sugar intake. Amongst other things, like chemicals in the food, how my body reacts to breaking down what I've ingested.

  6. Exercise is very important in maintaining weight loss. In addition, exercise is paramount in changing the body's composition. I find it disingenuous that they did not mention how exercise helps you lose weight faster.

  7. My wife has been hitting the gym for years and frustrated because she did not lose weight. Then she tried skipping breakfast by practicing intermittened fasting and boom after 1 month saw results. 6 months later with miracle results. You cant argue with results.

  8. The one thing I learnt from having cancer (and was told by my oncologist), is how important exercise is for remaining in remission and being able to tolerate treatment.

  9. Exercise releases dopamine, which makes you feel good. So you are less likely to dependent on other harmful things for dopamine. Other harmful things like overeating. So the way vox reasoned it isn’t entirely accurate.

  10. This entire video feels like a cope. It's excuse after excuse. Like, "exercising more won't help because it will make you hungrier" (2:03) – eat more filling food then, like ones that are dense in protein. Or "if you run in the morning you won't feel like taking the stairs anymore" (2:12) – then muster the discipline to take the stairs anyway. Or "as you slim down, your metabolism goes down too" (2:25) – yes, AS YOU SLIM DOWN, which is the WHOLE POINT. Also part of that is due to muscle loss – you can offset that with weightlifting or resistance training.

Pontzer is an anthropologist, not a nutrition scientist. This is not his field, and it's his word against the bulk of scientific evidence that shows regular exercise DOES increase your total daily energy expenditure and promotes weight loss in most adults. His method of measuring total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) is contested, and it's more likely that the Hadza actually have up to 26% higher TDEE than their Western counterparts. I will also point out that Pontzer isn't even claiming that exercise doesn't help AT ALL, just that it plateaus at a certain point.

Yes, exercise ALONE isn't enough, it has to be accompanied with a healthy diet. But no one in good faith (i.e. people who aren't shilling for Coca-Cola) is advising you to exercise and eat all the junk food you want.

  11. This video disregards that exercising to build more lean mass means increasing your basal metabolic rate. It’s wild to watch this after all the gym/lifting YouTube I’ve seen. I feel bad for people who don’t do thorough research and can’t get fit.

  12. I was in a hard mental breakdown because of my life problems, in 9 months period , i couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep , I had a massive sleep problem, but after a while i started losing 20 kilograms… man 😂😂 try this unhealthy method (Don't SLEEP)and you will see how that will effect your body and mind and it will helps you to lose weight

  13. My brother had the best one line explanation for this:
"If your diet is under control, no amount of exercise is necessary to lose weight. If your diet is out of control, no amount of exercise can possibly help you lose weight."

  14. I started January 2 of this year at 326.6 lbs, I have lost 30 lbs already. I know it isn’t easy, but I have been walking and running more, eating better (and trying to eat considerably less) you can do it!

  15. When I use to exercise my weight didn’t budge. When I focus more on what and how much I ate and exercise less I lost weight faster. Exercise might help you build lean muscle and help maintain weight but doesn’t help you lose weight I’m a living proof. I can’t tell how hard I use to exercise and eat less and the scale was barely moving and sometimes not moving at all. I lost weight because of eating less.

  16. I've been able to lose 70 lbs using a pretty method. I can't post the link here but you can find it on my channel

Thanks for sharing this video. all too often we give up too quickly because of our impatience. what's important is we don't focus on the end goal but creating consistent daily habits, and slowly but surely we'll get there. remember: slow progress isn't failure, giving up is ✨ How's everyone's journey going? Any exciting progress or challenges you'd like to share?
